A Picture of Sacrifice | Team Hope

This is a picture of sacrifice. It's a modern-day picture of the widow's mite, the well-known Bible story from Mark 12 and Luke 21.

For the last two years, a woman living in poverty in the United States has brought ten dollars cash in a decorated envelope to her pastor for Team Hope. After hearing about the needs of kids in Haiti at a meal packing event, in broken English, she told her pastor, "I want to join Mission of Hope. I want to help the kids in Haiti." Knowing her financial situation, the pastor tried to talk her out of it, yet she insisted. Month after month, she saves $10 in cash to bring one child in Haiti from hunger to hope.

To some, $10 is an absolute sacrifice. For others, it's nothing. For kids in Haiti, $10 ensures a meal every day at school for a month. For many of them, it's their only meal of the day.
