Announcing Guatemala

As we celebrate new beginnings, we are excited to announce that Mission of Hope will now be serving the people of Guatemala! While the work continues in Haiti and around the Caribbean, God has opened a door for Mission of Hope to also serve the people of Central America.

For nearly 15 years, God has been reaching indigenous families in Guatemala through a ministry called El Faro, started by Phil and Nikki Ephriam. El Faro has been providing medical care, education, clean water, construction projects, a women’s empowerment ministry, and sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Two years ago, Phil had a stroke and begged God for a way to ensure the ministry would continue. When the founders of El Faro approached Mission of Hope, we were amazed at the similarities of our visions. They offered to turn responsibility of good stewardship to Mission of Hope as a way to carry on the work they started. After much prayer, we have accepted the charge to continue to bring life transformation to every man, woman, and child in Guatemala.
We hope that you will come and serve with us on a mission trip in Guatemala this year. El Faro has faithfully served the people on the first and second mountains closest to the campus. Phil and Nikki’s vision has always been to go over the third mountain. By serving on a HopeGo mission trip, you can serve alongside local churches as we work together to meet people’s needs while also sharing the gospel.
Give thanks to the Lord, call on his name;
make known among the nations what he has done.

– 1 Chronicles 16:8
El Faro means “the lighthouse” in Spanish, and it is our hope and prayer that God’s light would shine into the lives of thousands of people in Guatemala in 2020. Together we can ensure that every man, woman, and child on the first mountain, the second, the third, and throughout all of Guatemala experiences the love of Jesus.
