Field Day | Farmers Field School

farmers field school

The Farmers Field School in Marmelade hosted a Field Day this past month and approximately 210 people participated in the event. Field Day is an annual gathering for farmers to exchange information on the technologies and best practices they have discovered for crops in their specific area. This event provides them the opportunity to share with the community at large, in the hope that they will implement these best practices and increase their crop yield as well.

Different cultivation techniques were discussed for various crops including maize, sweet cassava, chili, eggplant, tomato, leek, cabbage, carrot, taro, and coffee. The joy the farmers had on their faces as they shared best practices was evident. They thanked all the supporters who continue to make the Farm Field School a reality, including our partner Woodlands Church who helped turn the school from a dream into a reality. They all take pride in their work and enjoy having this opportunity through the Farm Field School to impact their community. To make the event even more exciting, six school students were awarded pigs, goats, and hens for their punctuality, loyalty, responsibility, and respect towards their peers. These items will be a tangible blessing to both the students and their families!

From impacting farmers in the rural mountains of Haiti, to pastors across the island, to patients receiving life-saving medical care, you are making a difference in the lives of men, women, and children. Thank you for supporting Mission of Hope, we are so grateful for you!
