Stories of Hope | COVID-19 Training in Haiti

Thank you for your support of Mission of Hope. God is using your generosity to provide essential and life-saving ministries during this unprecedented time in our world. God is the same yesterday, today, and forever, and these stories remind us of His faithfulness.

HAITI: COVID-19 TRAINING
Last month we trained our Haitian employees, medical professionals, and Village Champions on COVID-19. We leveraged our Church Advancement network to reach the masses and equipped our Village Champions with the most up to date information on the virus and how to prevent its spread. They distributed brochures and talked with local churches, pastors, and community leaders. 3,594 households in nearby villages were trained through these efforts, and we are working with the Prime Minister to educate the general public.

We also trained our medical staff at the Clinic of Hope in Titanyen on COVID-19 protocols and procedures. They learned how to screen for COVID-19 and respond if a patient has certain symptoms. We have many patients with chronic conditions that need continual care, and we are committed to providing healthcare to our communities in the midst of this pandemic.

We also set up hand washing stations on our campuses. All of our Haitian staff have been trained in COVID-19 awareness and prevention. We provided them with brochures to share with their families and communities. The total community impact of these training efforts was over 20,000 people.

GUATEMALA: MARANATHA MEDICAL TRIP

Medical experts from the United States and Guatemala came together to serve over 2,300 people around our El Faro campus in March. The teams held medical clinics in four different communities, two of which were only accessible by boat. The way the teams worked together was remarkable—from triage diagnosing medical needs to dental clinics and eye exams, from pediatric doctors and general physicians to a pharmacy full of medicines and vitamins, from children's ministry to spiritual care—it was incredible to see everyone working together. There was even a beauty clinic where women and children got their hair washed (for lice) and then styled with braids, ribbons, and flowers. These women then went to a photo station to have their portrait taken. For many, these were the only photos they have.

God continues to bring hope to people throughout the world. Thank you for being a part of it. Your commitment to those in need is more crucial than ever.
