Stories of Hope | Paulina & Madame Wendel's Story

As spring approaches, more teams are coming to serve, and God is transforming more lives in Haiti, the Dominican Republic, the Bahamas, and Guatemala. Here are just two of the thousands of lives being touched because of you and faithful people like you.

Guatemala: Paulina’s Story

This month, with a smile that lit up the whole room, Paulina received a gift beyond her wildest dreams—the gift of sight. At 89 years old, she had sat outside the clinic along with 20 others to wait her turn for the bandages from her surgery to be removed and her sight to be restored.

Working together, a team of doctors and nurses from Guatemala and the United States performed over 60 cataract surgeries to restore the patients’ sight. They worked tirelessly with precision and care on every patient, and the next morning as the sun began to rise, we celebrated together the incredible gift of new sight.

Paulina hugged the staff and praised God for this life-changing miracle. Just as the doctors had brought sight to her eyes, Jesus had brought sight to her soul. Rejoicing that the blind can now see, she praised loudly with lifted hands, "With God, all things are possible!"

Dominican Republic: Madame Wendel’s Story

Pastor and Madame Wendel lead one of our partner churches in the Dominican Republic, in a community called Pekin. Since we partnered with their church last June, Madame Wendel has seen her women’s bible study nearly double in size. She tells us that Strategic Ministry Time, where mission trip teams share the gospel with people in the community, has caused more women to want to learn about Jesus. Mission trips can have a lasting impact in a short amount of time, as we partner with local churches to carry on the ministry.
