Tangible gifts that meet tangible needs

Every mom hopes that her child is safe, healthy, educated, and successful, but the journey for a struggling mom in Haiti or the Dominican Republic can be a treacherous one.

Andrea has not had an easy life, and in the last six months, she has been on an especially difficult and unexpected journey. Last year, in the midst of a worldwide pandemic, she suddenly lost her 19-year-old son to a blood disease. Pastor Elbis and our team in the DR met Andrea and her two daughters 20 days after he passed away. As they visited with each other, it was easy to see that they were broken and grieving, and their living conditions were unsanitary. As a single mom, she could not see a path through the obstacles she faced daily.

Thanks to the initiative of Pastor Elbis and the generosity of our partners, Andrea now has a brand new stove and gas tank, a new kitchen sink, and a water tank that provides running water into the home, as well as two new beds, and a fresh coat of paint on the walls.

These are tangible gifts that met tangible needs, but they were also an expression of love that helped Andrea and her girls experience restoration. Being served in this way has opened the door to many conversations, prayers, and words of encouragement for this family through their loss and grief.

You can help someone just like Andrea today. If God has blessed you with extra to give, will you please prayerfully consider making a donation today to Mission of Hope?

We see very real and difficult needs in Haiti and the Dominican Republic everyday, and every donation helps. Please consider giving today so that more people like Andrea can experience restoration physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
