Leveque is a village in Haiti and a special place full of families who were displaced by the devastating earthquake of 2010. Once barren land, it is now a thriving community of 615 homes, a church, a school, and many small businesses. Thimagene, one of our Village Champions, has been hosting Kids’ Clubs in the community along with other Mission of Hope team members. These events create a safe and fun environment for kids to play together, share a snack, and learn about Jesus. Recently Thimagene and the team walked through the village to check on neighbors. Through their conversations, seven people accepted Christ!
Leveque is a tangible place of restoration. Since the earthquake, the incredibly resilient people have found a “new normal.” Doesn’t that sound familiar? “New normal” has been said over and over in the midst of the pandemic. While we all are adjusting to our new normal, Leveque is a reminder that life can continue after tremendous disruption, that HOPE overcomes suffering.
