Mission of Hope and the Chapel Church in Fort Wayne, Indiana partnered to launch the Business Mentoring Program in 2017 in response to a growing need for sustainable business models and entrepreneurial support in Haiti.
The goal of the Business Mentoring Program is to support sustainable business models in Haiti and create an environment for the subsequent multiplication of these healthy businesses. After the program, these local business owners are able to confidently operate their ventures independently and share their expertise with fellow business owners.
The program is in its third year and has already created a ripple effect among business owners in Haiti, lending to the growth of healthier micro-economies in Haiti.
The demand for the program is high. Participants are selected from a large pool of applicants. Following a biblically-based curriculum, the business owners receive weekly training and one-on-one mentoring from Haitian and North American business owners. North American mentors visit Haiti quarterly to encourage, train, and problem solve with the Haitian business owners in the program.
As of 2018, 30 business owners have graduated from the Business Mentoring program, and there are currently 20 businesses enrolled in our 2019 program.
