HEALTH CARE INITIATIVES

Mission of Hope provides medical care to over 151,500 people annually through our Clinic of Hope, Hospital of Fermathe, Medical Outreach Program, mobile medical clinics, and community health initiatives.

WHAT WE ARE DOING TO IMPROVE HEALTHCARE

CLINIC OF HOPE

The Clinic of Hope at our Titanyen campus in Haiti consists of a outpatient clinic, dental clinic, vision clinic, and prosthetics lab. Our medical team of Haitian doctors, pharmacists, lab techs, and nurses serves around 60 patients per day with acute and chronic needs. The clinic is equipped with a pharmacy, lab, ambulance, and an urgent care center. Diabetes, prenatal, breastfeeding, and infant care classes are offered at the clinic, taught by clinic nurses who take the time to thoroughly educate these patients and provide needed medications and materials to the participants.

DENTAL CARE

We bring together local dentists and North American dental professionals serving on mission trips to provide quality dental care to patients.

VISION CLINIC

The Vision Clinic includes a fully functional optical lab with auto-refractors, pteropter, frames, and an edger that allows us to cut patient lenses. Instead of relying on donated lenses, patients can now pick out their frames and have lenses cut to match their prescriptions. There is a great need for high quality vision care, and we’re committed to continue serving these patients with excellence.

PROSTHETICS LAB

From its inception just after the catastrophic earthquake in Haiti in 2010, the prosthetics lab has been making hundreds of lower limbs for both adults and children.

HOSPITAL AT FERMATHE

The Hôpital de Fermathe has been providing quality care to the area since the 1950s. What began as a simple facility to house six pneumonia patients because there was no room in the nearest Port-au-Prince hospital is now the primary healthcare and emergency provider for people in the mountain region just south of the capital city.

Treating over 10,000 patients annually, the doctors and staff at the Hôpital de Fermathe are able to repeatedly share the gospel and show the love of Christ in practical ways. Delivering nearly 30 babies monthly, we provide maternity and pediatric care to new mothers and newborns. We also provide emergency services including 80 staffed beds, medical and surgical wards for men and women, two operating rooms, X-ray tests, and rotating specialty doctors who offer advanced orthopedic surgeries. Preventative care and non-emergency care is available through our outpatient clinic. Additional services include community health immunization and vaccination programs, dentistry, ophthalmology, family services, labs, pharmacy, and remote clinics.

MEDICAL OUTREACH PROGRAM (MOPS)

The Medical Outreach Program (MOPS) offers in-home visits to patients who are unable to travel to the nearest clinic. Each patient has an individualized care plan created together with the patient and/or family, the local medical team, and our North American medical staff.

MOBILE CLINICS

Teams of North American providers, RNs, LVNs, CNAs, pharmacists, and support staff join with our local doctors, staff, and translators to set up mobile medical clinics in communities that do not have access to quality medical care. We offer medical consultations, prescribe medications, and fill prescriptions. Between 80-200 patients are seen at each clinic, depending on the team size. These clinics are an effective way to meet both the physical and spiritual needs of the people. Not only do they allow people to experience exceptional medical care, but they also provide an opportunity to hear of God’s love for them and have someone pray for them.

MEDICAL OUTREACH PROGRAM (MOPS)

The Medical Outreach Program (MOPs) allows us to form long term care and relationships with patients and their families. Every patient has an individualized care plan created together with the patient and/or family, the Haitian medical team, and our North American medical staff.

COMMUNITY HEALTH INITIATIVES

The goal of the community health initiatives is to educate people so they can live healthier, fuller lives. With our partners, we provide basic public health services such as vaccinations and offer training on HIV prevention, personal care, family planning, and community health education.

HELP PROVIDE MEDICAL CARE TO PEOPLE IN NEED

Serving on a medical mission trip is a powerful way for medical professionals to utilize their skills and experience to help others. You will have the unique opportunity to treat patients while also engaging with them relationally. This is a great opportunity to pray for individuals and share your personal story of life transformation.
