FOOD
SECURITY

Mission of Hope recognizes access to food as a fundamental human right. Our approach to food security is to ensure that individuals have regular access to sufficient food while supporting communities, families, and individuals' ability to provide for their food and nutritional needs.

To address food insecurity, Mission of Hope works through various forms of collaboration with local partners, local leaders, government agencies, farmers, and beneficiaries. Our approach encompasses both short-term and long-term strategies. In the short term, we promptly respond to urgent needs by distributing food acquired through meals packed and locally procured food. In the long term, we strive to establish sustainable outcomes by promoting agricultural practices and farming initiatives.

We recognize the unique needs of each community and individual, and we are committed to innovation and adaptability in addressing food insecurity effectively. We prioritize supporting schools, understanding that food is essential for quality education. Additionally, we focus on communities where food intervention is critical, working alongside pastors, local government, and community leaders to distribute food resources to effectively serve their communities.

  • Through our partnership with Convoy of Hope and hundreds of partners in Haiti, we are able to serve over 125,000 meals a day to children in schools and orphanages throughout Haiti.
  • In the Dominican Republic, we provide underserved families with bags of groceries through the Family Assistance Program, which is all facilitated through the local church.

Providing nutritional meals to those who otherwise may not receive a meal today.

Team Hope helps move kids off a nutrition waitlist and from hunger to HOPE. Many children in Haiti are deprived of the basic necessity of a plate of food, which hinders their growth, health, and opportunities for a brighter tomorrow. But when children are a part of our schools or partner schools, they receive a healthy meal each day.

The Family Assistance Program in the Dominican Republic started as an effort to get food to people who were in dire need of groceries for their families. The pandemic quickly highlighted the fragility of food sources for many, and that was an immediate need Mission of Hope could help meet.

The farmers at the Farm Field School celebrated graduation! Each farmer received a certificate and celebrated their dedication over the past two years of their training. In the midst of the tension across the country, the ceremony provided the opportunity to honor the farmers, involve the community, and celebrate the hard labor the farmers have poured into their crops.
