January 12th marked 13 years since the tragic 2010 earthquake struck Haiti and forever changed the nation. Every person in Haiti was affected by the devastation in one way or another. The people of Haiti have continued to experience tragedies over the last several years, making daily life a challenge.
However, they hold on to hope and press forward to build a better future for generations ahead. We stand with our brothers and sisters in Haiti. To start 2023, we want to refocus on HOPE and the wisdom some of our staff in Haiti have shared with us about why they have hope in hard times.
DOMINICAN REPUBLIC: PASTOR TRAINING
Mission of Hope hosted a Pastor Training session in the Dominican Republic recently. North American, Dominican, and Haitian pastors came together to study scripture and work on their skills for preparing sermons. Over 50 pastors, leaders, and church members attended the training hosted at Pastor Diony’s church. Leaders from a North American partner church, Door Creek Church, shared tips with the attendees on how to study and break down Scripture to help form a message. The session also included time to practice and apply the principles they learned.
There’s something incredibly powerful about seeing the Dominican and Haitian pastors together in the same room, united in purpose and training. We are grateful that these pastors serve faithfully to reach every man, woman, and child in their communities.
