OUR STORY
Mission of Hope was founded in 1998 by Brad and Vanessa Johnson. What started as a small mission located on a barren piece of land in Haiti has since grown into a multinational organization, with campuses across Haiti and the Dominican Republic. Click Here to watch the Founders Story.

OUR MISSION
Mission of Hope is a faith-based organization that seeks life transformation for every man, woman, and child in Haiti and the Dominican Republic.

HOW WE DO IT
Mission of Hope works alongside local leaders in Haiti and the Dominican Republic to transform lives through church advancement, education, and food security.

TRANSPARENCY & ACCOUNTABILITY
Mission of Hope is committed to stewarding resources wisely and efficiently. We believe good stewardship means that over 90% of all gifts that come into Mission of Hope go directly to ministry in the countries where we serve.

LEADERSHIP

Brad Johnson is the founder and president of Mission of Hope, the largest NGO in Haiti. He and his wife, Vanessa, moved to Haiti in 1998 to help underserved communities facing poverty and hardship. Since that time, Brad has led Mission of Hope into a multinational, faith-based, multi-million-dollar nonprofit bringing hope to millions of at-risk individuals through education, nutrition, agricultural programs, medical care, sustainable housing, and disaster relief.

Through the last five years of political and social upheaval, the organization has grown under the Haitian leadership on the ground. Together, they have led MOH to provide over 125,000 meals daily for children and those in greatest need, on average, even increasing engagement through these last few years. Brad and the leadership team understand the day-to-day issues and the horrific plight of Haitian communities and are in coordination with the World Food Program (WFP) and others sharing best practices to expand our nutrition efforts to include the Internally Displaced People who have fled their homes and lost everything.

Brad has a Bachelor’s Degree in Educational Ministries from Huntington University and lives in Austin, TX with his wife. Two of his four children are married, one is currently serving in the Marines, and one is continuing education at university.

WHAT WE DO

FOOD SECURITY
Mission of Hope’s approach to food security is to ensure that individuals have regular access to sufficient food while supporting communities, families, and individuals' ability to provide for their food and nutritional needs. To address food insecurity, Mission of Hope works through various forms of collaboration with local partners, local leaders, government agencies, farmers, and beneficiaries. Our approach encompasses both short-term and long-term strategies. We prioritize supporting schools, understanding that food is essential for quality education. Additionally, we focus on communities where food intervention is critical, working alongside pastors, local government, and community leaders to distribute food resources to effectively serve their communities.
EDUCATION
Education is a key driver for generational change, breaking poverty cycles, and transforming communities. Mission of Hope’s holistic approach to education boosts economic growth by preparing individuals for better jobs and enhances health outcomes, as educated individuals make informed decisions, leading to healthier families. Education ignites hope, empowering people to envision and strive for a thriving future. Education lays the groundwork for a future where individuals and communities thrive, fostering a cycle of opportunity and improvement.
CHURCH ADVANCEMENT
Church Advancement is equipping local leaders to reach every man, woman, and child in their communities with resources, opportunities, and tools for transformation. Church Advancement is how Mission of Hope comes alongside local pastors, leaders, and communities to ensure everything we do is led locally and within a context that supports and empowers community flourishing.
DISASTER SERVICES
Mission of Hope’s Disaster Response team is consistently among the first to respond to disasters. This team is highly regarded for its scalable response and distribution model, which utilizes the HaitiOne Network and partners in the Dominican Republic.
