Women's Empowerment is Expanding

we header

There has been no time wasted so far in 2023 as Women’s Empowerment hit the ground running! A long-awaited answer to prayer has been that stability would start to return in Haiti, and in the last several weeks we have started to see a shift. Since January, students have gradually returned to school, which has allowed us to plan gatherings for Klèb Manman and Girls Empowerment! Please continue to pray for ongoing safety and stability all across Haiti so that we can continue to open up more opportunities for women to come together and be encouraged.

We are also very excited to announce that WE has expanded into the DR with a brand new program called Damas Juntas. Damas Juntas means “Women Together”, and this group has started out of the need for women to be a part of a deeper community within their community. This group will encourage and equip women to realize their potential within their realm of influence, as they grow closer to Jesus and to others.

There were 50 Dominican and Haitian women in attendance at the kick-off to Damas Juntas in Ensueño (also known as Villa Agua), which is part of the greater Santiago area. The beauty of this group is that it is being led by local leaders at a community center, so churched and unchurched women of all ages are welcome. Madame Renee, who is the wife of one of our Haitian pastors, and Ruth, who is a young mom that we were able to build a house for a few years ago, led the group. Among the women in attendance were four teenagers who engaged in conversation and answered questions.

The interest is exploding and the need is great in the DR, as many women of all ages hunger to learn more about what it means to be a woman of God. We will also have our first Damas Juntas gathering in the Jarabacoa area at the end of this month. We are believing God for so much this year, and we covet your prayers as we move forward!
