HAITI SPORTS COMPLEX

The Haiti Sports Complex is located on our Titanyen campus and includes two multi-use courts for basketball and volleyball, as well as a full-size turf soccer field with concrete bleacher seating. It provides a safe and encouraging environment for children in Haiti to play sports while growing their skills in state-of-the-art facilities. Kids are given the opportunity to practice their skills, play with friends, and be discipled to become leaders in their communities.

WHY HAVE A SPORTS COMPLEX?

The Haiti Sports Complex represents hope to children and young adults in Haiti. They can step away from the daily troubles they face and enjoy sports alongside friends. It provides an opportunity to learn teamwork, perseverance, discipline, and develop leadership skills.

Sports create a foundation to develop important characteristics that these children will carry with them the rest of their lives, helping them see how they are part of something much bigger than themselves. Our coaches and staff are able to develop mentorship relationships with these kids, which allows for repeated opportunities to share the gospel.

The vision of the Haiti Sports Complex to “actively pursue our Audience of One, Jesus Christ, by loving God and loving others” aligns with Mission of Hope’s vision of “following Jesus Christ to bring life transformation to every man, woman, and child.”

WHAT DOES THE SPORTS PROGRAMMING LOOK LIKE?

The facility primarily serves kids between the ages of 10-21, with the goal to expand as the ministry grows. Basketball and soccer are the two introductory sports offered, with volleyball being added soon.

We partner with 18 churches that each have three coaches from their congregation who we trained in the rules of the sports as well as our Christ-centered values. We host games with the local churches on Saturdays as well as host practices with Mission of Hope school children during the week. During the summer we use the facility to host camps for children in the surrounding villages. With every event at the Haiti Sports Complex, the gospel is clearly presented in a devotional time as kids are provided with the opportunity to learn the sport.
